The Growth Coach wishes every one of our business coaching blog readers a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. I
hope each of you is surrounded by family, friends, good food, and relaxing and fun times.
For this business coach, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. There are no presents involved and it's very simple... a time to slow down, reflect, count your blessings, and give thanks. And, I almost forgot, eat more than you should!
During today's crazy economic times, more than ever, we need to remember to slow down, reflect and count our many blessings. To keep things in proper perspective. To focus on the long-term and the big picture. To recognize what is working in our business and life, not just what is not. To remember who and what truly matters most to us. To give thanks for our family, friends, faith, health, shelter, food, and other simple things.
Here are some relevant business coaching challenges and questions. Who and what are you truly thankful for? Who has made a positive difference in your life? To whom should you express your thanks, whether today or in the near future? It's not hard to do...just think and thank.
For example, today I sent an email to my business partners, support professionals, and my Operations Team. It was brief and simply thanked them for their talents, contributions and camaraderie. Expressing your thanks and living with an attitude of gratitude is the right thing to do. However, when was the last time you directly thanked the people who supported you and helped shape your life? Who contributed to your business success? Do not wait until it is too late.
Case in point. Over the years and on a periodic basis, I would write and mail a thanksgiving note to my brothers and parents. Thank God I did that several years ago for my father. A little over a year ago he passed away in an instant with no warning whatsoever. What a shock and profound and sudden loss! I did not have a final chance to say good-bye and express my love and thanks. However, I was comforted by the love and thanks I shared with him in a hand-written thanksgiving letter several years before that. He truly cherished that letter and kept it in his nightstand wherever my parents moved. He even mentioned to me that he had the rare opportunity to see his eulogy in writing while he was still alive. Again, do not wait to express your thanks.
To whom do you owe a genuine and deep expression of thanks? As your virtual business coach, please take time today to count your many blessings. However, do more than just that. Take it one step beyond. Express your thanks in person, by phone, by letter, by email, and through prayer to those individuals who have blessed your life and made such a positive difference. Thinking about doing it is not enough...be sure to follow-through. With most things in business and life, intentions are never sufficient...implementation is what truly matters.
Live your life with no regrets. On this special day, count your blessings and go express your thanks...you and others will be glad you did. Happy Thanksgiving!
