I recently re-read a book written by Alan Deutschman called, Change or Die.  My business coach in Plano, Texas, Mike Mirau, suggested this to our entire business coaching franchise system a year ago.  This book details how it can be difficult to change how you think, feel, and act without the right keys to change.  As the book reveals, facts, fear and force are never adequate tools to get people to change for the better, including yourself.  The book addresses fascinating case studies about "successful change" achieved by heart patients, criminals, alcoholics, and even drug and gambling addicts.  But what does this have to do with business owners and business coaching?  Everything.

While change is not easy, everyone can change with the right approach and tools, even hardened criminals and addicts.  However, mere facts, fear, and force are not enough to get people to adopt better habits and lifestyles.  What are the keys to change as revealed in this book? The 3 keys to change are Relate, Repeat, and Reframe.

For sake of an example, let's say you joined a gym to get in shape.  Let's start with Relate.  In order to change and get in shape, you must relate to the agent of change (gym trainer) or the gym community you have joined.  You must have faith and confidence in them and their proven approach.  These on-going relationships are critical to your improvement.  Because of the trainer, members, and their results, you gain new hope and the strong belief that you can and will change for the better.

Next is Repeat.  In order to change and get in shape, the change process (exercise regimen) must repeat so you can learn and adopt new skills and habits.  With any significant and sustained change, it takes a lot of repetition over time in order for new patterns of behavior to become automatic and feel quite natural.  There are no quick fixes or short cuts.  You must repeat the training and coaching so new skills and habits take root.  You start to see and feel the short-term victories and momentum builds.  Additionally, with each repetition, you improve and continue to make adjustments and refinements.

The final key to beneficial change is Reframe.  Once you adopt new skills and habits, the change process (exercise routine in this case) must help you adopt better ways of thinking.  You must see yourself and the world through a new lens.  In short, you adopt much more powerful and effective mindsets.  You change on the inside so you can change on the outside.  You start to think and feel like a healthy, strong, and fit person.  In turn, you act like a healthy, strong and fit person.  You make better food and exercise decisions.  In time, with such a positive mindset, you will do whatever is necessary to achieve and maintain on the outside what you now think on the inside.  You have become a different person in mindset.

These same 3 keys to change have been an integral part of The Growth Coach business coaching process for over 15 years.  That is why our coaching process is so effective and we can guarantee your satisfaction -- we are experts at getting small business owners to change for the better.

With The Growth Coach, you (the small business client) get: 1) a relationship with a proven agent of change and hope (your coach) who is armed with our guaranteed coaching process to provide you with inspiration and confidence; 2) a business coaching process that repeats enough for you to grow, have short-term wins, drill on the fundamentals, adopt new skills and habits, and make critical refinements over time; and finally, 3) you get the on-going support, structure and discipline to truly reframe how you think and act as a business owner (adopt more empowering mindsets).

As with most business owners, there is a gap between where you are and where you want to be, both professionally and personally.  Our coaching process will help you bridge that gap by providing you with the coach, process, repetition, new mindsets, hope and confidence to achieve a better future for your business and personal life.

While you don't have to change or die, you do have to change in order to have greater success and satisfaction in your business and balance and fulfillment in your life.
