This blog is dedicated to helping business owners achieve greater success in their businesses and balance in their lives.

As the owner of The Growth Coach, a business coaching franchise system, I'm always trying to feed my mind and spirit with positive and valuable information.  After all, if you don't keep yourself positive, productive and motivated, who will? Additionally, I'm always on the lookout for profitable information to share with my business coaches, their clients, and the readers of this business coaching blog.

Case in point.  I recently discovered...

This Growth Coach business coaching blog deals with a recent family vacation, pelicans, and business coaching lessons.  You see, my family and I took a very relaxing and memorable Easter vacation to Captiva Island in Florida.  We just returned.  Luckily, we planned for and paid for the vacation nearly a year ago and it provided a timely break from our dreary and cold Cincinnati winter and spring.  We had wonderful family time with no agendas, no schedule, and no hustle and bustle.  Just lots of good...

As the President and Founder of The Growth Coach, a business coaching franchise system, one of my absolute joys is to see my franchise owners serve others, succeed, and love what they do.  Knowing that our business coaches are helping thousands of small business owners each and every year throughout North America is highly gratifying and makes all the hard work, stress, worry, and risks worthwhile.  As well, these same business coaches continually help to feed my passion and soul, expand my vision...

My 10-year old son loves going to the movies.  To be fair, he also loves the exorbitantly priced popcorn and sodas.  Today, he got very excited when he saw the ad for the new DreamWorks movie "Monsters vs Aliens".  Animation is right up his alley.  But he really isn't that particular and looks for any excuse to go the movies with his parents, grandparents, or friends...about a dozen times a year.

Today, when I asked him why he loves going to the movies, he replied, "It just makes me happy." ...

Every year spring faithfully arrives.  It brings with it rain and rising temperatures, spring training for professional baseball, NCAA basketball March madness, and kids getting off of school.  And best of all, we get to say goodbye to winter.

Also, the new season brings with it talk about spring cleaning.  I never really understood that concept.  This year, however, I think that's exactly what I did.  It was more spring sorting than cleaning.  I'm not sure why, but I got inspiration to finally...

Given the challenging economy, now is not the time for business owners to be super heroes or lone rangers.  Now is not the time to be isolated, alone, and pretending to have all the answers.  It's OK, end the superman or superwoman charade.  This is your virtual business coach here and you can relax and be yourself.  You don't need to put up a false front for me or anyone else.  In fact, please put away your super hero cape and tights, stop speeding around like a bullet, and stop trying to leap tall...

This business coaching blog is dedicated to the topic of leading, coaching, and communicating.  My boy's basketball coach provides a very relevant lesson for all business owners.  He is a good man, the boys love playing for him, and he commits lots of his time and energy to coaching 10-year old boys.  Need I say more?  Also, he makes practice fun and competitive and he demands the boys to play up to their potential.

At times, however, he gets frustrated during games when the boys can't seem...

Every human being, especially overworked, overwhelmed, and overly busy entrepreneurs, will receive numerous wake-up calls over their lifetime.  What's a wake-up call?  It's that very personal, shocking, upsetting, and significant event that grabs your attention, shakes you up, and strongly encourages you to slow down and think.  It's too significant to be brushed off, ignored or easily forgotten.  It demands that you stop taking people and your situation for granted and stop sleep-walking through...

As a business coach, I have always helped entrepreneurs to stop dwelling on the past, stop obsessing about problems, and start focusing on solutions.  This current recession should be no different.  For all of us, it's time to get beyond the whining, complaining, excuses, negativity, and worrying.  We need to turn off the negative news and turn on our creative business minds.  We already know all about the negatives of this recession...but what about the positives?  That's right, we need to start...
